South Coast Plaza Hosts 6th Annual Design-Build Competition

AIA-SABPCanstruction is an international design-build competition and Orange County is one of over 100 cities that combines the fun of a design build with an ingenious way to help feed hungry people in Orange county.  17 local prominent architectural, engineering, planning and design firms create these large structures built entirely out of cans and otherWoody non-perishable food items. The structures were assembled by volunteer teams which include students and interns from local colleges. The overnight building sessions took place at South Coast Plaza and Crystal Court on Friday August 30th.

Judging occurs in categories such as Best Use of Label, Structural Ingenuity, Best Meal, and Jurors Favorite. Awards are presented at an annual fundraising Gala. At the close of the event all of the 64,314 cans of food will be boxer up, and donated to the Orange County Food Bank.
