The Great Wolf Lodge Grand Opening Feb. 19th!
The Great Wolf Lodge will Celebrate its Grand Opening
on February 19, 2016.
The $250 million development has been years in the making and was delayed by the recession and one of the worst downturns in tourism and hospitality history. Perhaps the time is right for this project and in April 2914 Turner construction broke ground on this huge project. The great Wolf Park will be the first waterpark in the region that is open year round it's close to the Anaheim resort hotels.
The 120,000 square-foot indoor waterpark is one of the Schaeffers Companies largest project. The 9 story hotel will include 603 hotel rooms, a 30,000 sq. ft. conference center, 8 water slides, a surf ride wave pool, an outdoor pool, interactive programs for children and seven dining options, including sit-down restaurants, a bakery and a Dunkin’ Donuts.
There are three different types of rooms in the water park. There are 471 standard rooms a themed room that includes a log cabin with bunk beds for the children. The premium suite can sleep 8 guests and has two bedrooms. All the rooms include a sleeper sofa.
The rates for standard room start at $250.00 per night and the suites begin at $460.00 per night. Only visitors who are staying at the resort will have access to the water park.
This unique water park offers unusual rides such as the Howlin’ Tornado where up to three people can drop into a six-story funnel which will send them swishing and swirling 30 feet up the sides of the funnel before making a safe splash landing. The Wolf Tail will have a two-story free-fall drop and then a 360-degree loop in an enclosed tube slide.
The resort also will offer non-water activities. That includes Storytelling time at night, when guests can bring their children down to the lobby to listen to stories being read.
The opening of the new lodge also brings the first MagiQuest live-action role-playing game to California. Using infrared-emitting magic wands, players conduct a dozen interactive scavenger hunts throughout the hotel, including a battle with a dragon. The MagiQuest wands will also animate small animatronic animals in some hotel suites. Mercifully, there is an override switch for parents with the noise-emitting creatures automatically switching off at 11 p.m.
The family-friendly resort will include several non-water-park-related activities, including a motion simulator ride, Glow in the Dark miniature golf, The Northern Lights video game arcade, Ten Paw miniature bowling alley and the Scooops Day Spa for kids. Wiley the wolf and five other costumed characters will make regular meet-and-greet appearances.
